In the early hours of March 2, 2024, Portland, Maine, police responded to a report of a shooting near 263 St. John Street. Upon arrival, officers found 30-year-old Raoul Mapendo Tshiyuka suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Maine Medical Center, where he later died. An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Tshiyuka died from a gunshot wound, ruling his death a homicide.
