On November 28, 2019, Ronald Cyr, 65, of Van Buren, Maine, died from injuries sustained when a booby trap he had set up in his home discharged unintentionally. Cyr had rigged the front door with a device designed to fire a handgun upon entry. Upon responding to his 911 call, authorities discovered this mechanism, along with other devices, prompting the involvement of the Maine State Police Bomb Squad.
