On October 23, 2012, in Lamoine, Maine, a tragic incident unfolded when 50-year-old Robert Tilden and his brother-in-law, also 50-year-old Russell Pinkham, were fatally shot outside their homes. The perpetrator was identified as Robert's son, 27-year-old Leon R. Tilden. The shootings occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the family compound on Mud Creek Road.
