On the night of September 27, 2024, Biddeford police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots on Foss Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Gene Arthur Dares, a local resident, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Dares was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed that his death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
