On the evening of August 2, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., a shooting occurred at a residence on White Oak Hill Road in Poland, Maine. The victim, identified as 51-year-old Richard "Rick" E. Tayman Jr. of Oxford, sustained a single gunshot wound. He was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was a single gunshot injury, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
