Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene
following reports of the shooting. Upon their arrival, they found Salim gravely injured. He was quickly transported to George Washington University Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries about thirty minutes later. The Metropolitan Police Department promptly launched a homicide investigation into the violent death of the young man from the 4000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SW.
