Austin Durocher

Murdered

On May 9, 2018, 20-year-old Austin M. Durocher of Derby, Vermont, died by suicide during a traffic stop in Newbury, Vermont. A Vermont State Police trooper had pulled Durocher over around 11 a.m. on Route 5 near Moore Hill Road for an expired inspection sticker. After the trooper returned to his cruiser to process Durocher's information, Durocher retrieved a firearm and fatally shot himself inside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
