On a spring day in Providence, Rhode Island, the life of Kareem Barnes, a 40-year-old Black or African American man, was tragically cut short. On May 9, 2015, Barnes was found shot in the head, the victim of a homicide that would leave his family and friends mourning the loss of a man they described as having a heart of gold.
