On a Saturday afternoon in Providence, Rhode Island, on February 27, 2021, the life of 19-year-old Johnjairo Brito was tragically cut short. The young Black / African American man was sitting in a car on Academy Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. when he was targeted in a fatal shooting. Despite being struck by multiple bullets, Brito managed to put the car in reverse, backing out of the driveway he was in and striking a pole across the street.
