On the evening of October 12, 2021, 38-year-old Melbin Ricardo Perez Reyes was fatally shot during an attempted robbery at the Laundromax on Broad Street in Providence, Rhode Island. While doing his laundry, Perez Reyes was approached from behind by 24-year-old Johan Quinones, who pressed a firearm against his back and demanded his gold chain.
