On what should have been a joyous celebration of his 18th birthday, Dari Fabian Balbuena Mesquin, a Black/African American male, was tragically shot and killed on August 25, 2024. The incident occurred outside of his home on Rhodes Street in Providence, Rhode Island, during a gathering. He was discovered with a gunshot wound to his chest and was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His death marked the city's sixth homicide of the year.
