In the quiet, rural landscape of Sinai, South Dakota, a day of target practice ended in tragedy for Steven Hanson, a 44-year-old Caucasian male. On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at a residence located on 217th Street near 457th Avenue, Hanson was engaged in shooting a pistol. The incident, which is believed to have occurred between the hours of noon and 5 p.m., took a fatal turn as he was walking back from his target.
