On June 10, 2017, 17-year-old Daryl Martin from Charles City, Iowa, was fatally shot in an accidental hunting incident near Presho, South Dakota. Martin was participating in a prairie dog hunting trip when the accident occurred. According to reports, he was accidentally shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries. Responding agencies included the Tripp County Sheriff's Office, Tripp County Ambulance, and the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department.
