In the early morning hours of August 20, 2024, the life of 17-year-old Deontae Montrell Boehrns, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in a Sioux Falls, South Dakota home. Deontae, along with other minors, was at the residence of a 13-year-old boy, where they were spending time playing video games. The night took a fatal turn when a 9mm handgun, which had been reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle, was introduced and handled by the 13-year-old.
