On January 5, 2018, a drug-related incident in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, led to the deaths of 30-year-old Corey James Zephier and 28-year-old Samuel Crockett. The events unfolded during a planned methamphetamine transaction at Zephier's apartment on West Rice Street. Zephier, along with his associates, Manuel Frias and Maria LeClair, intended to sell methamphetamine to Crockett. However, the deal escalated into a confrontation that resulted in both Zephier and Crockett being fatally shot.
