In the early hours of a cold January morning in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the life of a young Native American man, Dakota Sun Bear Heels, was tragically cut short at the age of 27. On January 17, 2020, he succumbed to injuries sustained from being shot twice in the chest a week prior. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of North Cleveland Avenue, where police were called around 4 a.m. for a report of a fight.
