Do you know who murdered Eric Walker? In a senseless act of violence that unfolded at a gas station in Prince George's County, a man's life was tragically cut short. The male victim, 27-year-old Eric Walker of Baltimore, was simply pumping gas in February of 2013 when he was confronted by an armed man. The sudden and unprovoked encounter quickly escalated, creating a scene of terror in what should have been a mundane errand.
The assailant, identified as 36-year-old Duane Lamar Williams of the District of Columbia, approached
Walker with a gun. In a desperate attempt to save his own life, Walker tried to flee, but his efforts were in vain. Williams pursued him, ultimately tackling and shooting him. At the time of the attack, an off-duty Metro police officer was present in Walker's car. Williams also attempted to shoot the officer, but his weapon failed to fire. The responding officers were able to subdue and arrest Williams after using a stun gun.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the attack appeared to be entirely random, with no clear motive. It was determined that Williams was under the influence of PCP at the time of the shooting, a factor that prosecutors said left him with no memory of the event. This lack of premeditation meant that a first-degree murder charge could not be successfully pursued. Williams was ultimately convicted of murder and in December 2014, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the inexplicable killing of Eric Walker.
