In the spring of 2016, a dispute in a liquor store parking lot escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 29-year-old Darnell Lee Richardson. On the evening of March 16th, Richardson met with Leon Stewart and an unidentified associate in the parking lot of Benning Liquors, located in the 3400 block of Benning Road, NE. An altercation broke out, and the situation quickly turned violent.
