On August 9, 2014, 28-year-old Richard Abeyta was fatally shot in front of a residence in Casper, Wyoming. The incident occurred after an argument between Abeyta and 68-year-old Charlie Mapp. The confrontation began when Mapp returned from purchasing alcohol with Abeyta's girlfriend, leading Abeyta to accuse them of having an affair. The dispute escalated, culminating in Mapp shooting Abeyta.
