Just before dusk on March 8, 2025, two 911 calls drew officers to a south Casper home in the 800 block, where an argument among family members had turned violent.
Responding officers found Jeremiah Wayne Reyes, a 47-year-old White male, inside the residence with a gunshot wound; Jeremiah Wayne Reyes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two days later, the Natrona County Coroner identified the deceased as Jeremiah Wayne Reyes, a 47-year-old White male from Casper.

police updates placed the scene in the 800 block of West 53rd Street; the coroner's press release later described the location as the 800 block of West 43rd Street.
Officers had been dispatched around 5:45 p.m. after a third-party caller reported a heated family dispute and said a male had gone to the home to intervene; a second call from inside the residence reported that 47-year-old male victim, Jeremiah Wayne Reyes had been shot.
In the hours that followed, police detained everyone who was there, processed the scene, and told the public there was no ongoing threat.
As the week wore on, investigators called the case “complicated” and confirmed no arrests, even as they worked to corroborate accounts and collect evidence tied to the death of 47-year-old Jeremiah Wayne Reyes.
Four months later, prosecutors announced there would be no charges.
Casper police had recommended second-degree murder and aggravated assault counts against a 74-year-old male, Clarence Lee Daniels, who had gone to his daughter's home with a. 44 Magnum during the dispute that preceded the shooting of Jeremaih Wayne Reyes.
But the Natrona County District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute, concluding that evidence of self-defense—or defense of others—would provide a complete legal defense.
Case materials released with that decision describe a struggle over the gun that moved from a couch into a bedroom before the fatal shot, along with prior reports of domestic violence involving Jeremiah Wayne Reyes and Daniels's daughter.
