On a summer Sunday in Casper, Wyoming, the life of Evander James Eagleroad, a 34-year-old enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, was tragically cut short. The male victim was fatally shot on August 10, 2025, in an incident that unfolded outside a convenience store.
That afternoon, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 700 block of N. Center Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Eagleroad with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to the Wyoming Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy confirmed his identity and cause of death.
Witnesses at the scene described a tense confrontation leading up to the shooting. According to a store clerk, two men and a woman were seen chasing another man in the parking lot of the convenience store. The man who was being pursued then reportedly turned and fired a weapon, striking Eagleroad.
In the immediate aftermath, police located and took an adult male suspect to the Casper Police Department for questioning. Investigators stated they believe the shooting was an isolated incident between individuals who were known to each other. Despite the initial questioning of the suspect, no arrests have been publicly announced, and the investigation into Eagleroad's death remains active.
