On August 23, 2023, in Burns, Wyoming, 43-year-old Ashley Bartel was fatally shot at his residence on Teal Lane. The incident stemmed from an argument over the use of a vehicle between Bartel and Tyler Hill, the 25-year-old son of Bartel's girlfriend, Rhonda Bryan. Witnesses reported that during the confrontation, Hill fired a warning shot into the ground before shooting Bartel in the head.
