In the early hours of December 16, 2022, Gillette police responded to reports of a gunshot on East Laurel Street around 2:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old David A. Valencia suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Campbell County Health, where he was pronounced deceased. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the official cause of death.
