Jon Hardy, a 26-year-old White/Caucasian male patrolman with the Gillette Police Department, died in Gillette, Wyoming, on December 20, 1983, after what began as an ordinary call and turned into a nightmare. According to memorial and news accounts, he and another officer were sent to Harder Drive on a reported residential burglary or disturbance.
