Aaron Kondo, a 32-year-old Native Hawaiian man from Hāwī whose death was reported in Kapaʻau, died on August 8, 2015, after what began as a frantic family search ended in tragedy. According to contemporaneous reporting from Hawaiʻi police and local news outlets, he had driven a pickup truck to check pig traps on private property off Kekoa Uhane Road.
