Barabbas Dietrich, 37, a Native Hawaiian man, was driving through Mililani just after midnight when the quiet of Kamehameha Highway broke apart in an instant. Police said a silver Ford that had been traveling behind him suddenly sped up, cut in front, and forced the moment to a stop. Two men got out, both armed with handguns, and walked straight toward Dietrich’s vehicle. When he tried to escape, one of the men allegedly opened fire, striking him as he attempted to flee.
