In the early 20th century, a dedicated officer of the Montgomery Police Department, Thomas Walter Berrey, a 35-year-old white male, tragically lost his life in the line of duty. On the fateful day of October 5, 1910, Officer Berrey, a mounted policeman, was responding to a domestic disturbance call with his partner.
