Despite medical efforts, Cornelius Johnson succumbed to his injuries two days later, on April 4, 2024.
Remembered as a kind, funny, and loving young man, Cornelius was described by his mother, Kimberly Freeman, as a homebody who enjoyed cereal and video games. He had attended Carver and Jefferson Davis high schools and worked as a warehouse stocker. His mother believes he was an innocent bystander, caught in the crossfire while simply trying to give a friend a ride. While sitting in a car, he was struck in the head by a bullet.
