In the early morning hours of September 9, 2022, a sense of unease settled over the Midtown Oaks Apartments in the 3500 block of Carter Hill Road in Montgomery, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 4 a.m., law enforcement discovered the body of 24-year-old Adarius Felder, known to his loved ones as 'Lil D,' who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of Adarius Felder, a male, remains ongoing, and
his family is still seeking answers and justice. In the initial stages of the investigation, authorities identified two women as persons of interest after it was discovered they had used Felder's EBT card shortly after he was killed. The Montgomery Police Department released images of the women, urging them to come forward. The two individuals subsequently turned themselves in to the authorities on October 11, 2022, and after being questioned, they were cleared of any involvement in the homicide and are no longer sought by law enforcement.
Despite this development, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Adarius Felder. Central Alabama CrimeStoppers initially offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. This reward was later increased to $2,500 with a contribution from a Montgomery City Council member in the hopes of encouraging anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward. The family of Adarius Felder has publicly pleaded for assistance, urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact the Montgomery Police Department or CrimeStoppers, with the option to remain anonymous. As of late 2024, the case remains unsolved.
