Officer Wil G. Thrower of the Tuscaloosa Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot on Sunday, August 30, 1914. The incident occurred while Officer Thrower was speaking with a person outside The Green Fly dance hall, located at 1926 Dinah Washington Avenue. A suspect approached the two individuals and initiated an argument with Officer Thrower, which escalated to the suspect shooting Officer Thrower four times.
