LeRoy Pratt Percy, born on June 23, 1889, in Birmingham, Alabama, was the son of John Walker Percy and Mary Pratt DeBardeleben. He married Martha Susan "Mattie" Phinizy, and together they had two children: Walker Percy, born in 1916, and LeRoy Percy Jr., born in 1917.
