She and her boyfriend, Eddie Emerson, were on a road trip from Florida to Michigan, planning to purchase a house in Detroit. However, their journey was interrupted when Emerson’s truck broke down, forcing them to stay at the Sunshine Inn Motel in Live Oak while waiting for repairs.
