Officer James C. Langford, a 40-year-old member of the Tuscaloosa Police Department in Alabama, lost his life in the line of duty on May 14, 1954. He was fatally shot while responding to an incident at a club located at the corner of 20th Street.
The incident occurred when Officer Langford and another officer were called to the club. During their response, Langford was confronted with a dangerous situation that ultimately led to his death by gunfire.
