In the late summer of 1968, a young Huntsville police officer's life was tragically cut short during what began as a routine traffic stop. Officer William T. Gaskin, a 22-year-old male, had only been with the department for three months when he was shot and killed on August 27th. A U.S. Army veteran, Gaskin had pulled over a vehicle on Toll Gate Road and had radioed his location to dispatch.
