Police Officer William T. Gaskin, a 22-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was tragically killed in the line of duty on August 27, 1968, in Huntsville, Alabama. At the time of his death, Officer Gaskin had only been serving with the Huntsville Police Department for three months and had not yet attended the police academy.
