On October 15, 1989, in McCalla, Alabama, 68-year-old Acie Worthy and his 55-year-old wife, Carolyn, were tragically murdered. The couple had just returned home from a Sunday evening church service when they were ambushed in their driveway. The assailants shot both Acie and Carolyn, dragged their bodies into their residence, and set the house on fire in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.
