On an evening in April 2014, a meeting at a Love's Truck Stop in McCalla, Alabama, ended in tragedy, leaving a 36-year-old man, Jamie R. Johnson, dead from a gunshot wound. The incident, which unfolded around 6 p.m. on April 14, drew a response from Tuscaloosa County sheriff's deputies and Woodstock police, who arrived to find Johnson wounded on the ground.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators soon identified a suspect, 51-year-old Anita Hill. According to law enforcement, Hill's son and Johnson had been in a long-term relationship and had arranged to meet at the truck stop to talk. It was during this meeting that the fatal shooting occurred.
Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, Anita Hill was taken into custody and charged with murder. She was subsequently booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail, with her bond set at $75,000. The authorities have indicated that the ongoing investigation points to the relationship between Johnson and Hill's son as a central element in the motive for the crime.
