On March 8, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported home invasion in the 6600 block of Newbridge Drive in McCalla, Alabama. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 33-year-old Keenan Orl Phillips deceased from gunshot wounds.
