On August 2, 2022, at approximately 11:18 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 5500 block of Myron Clark Road in McCalla, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 42-year-old Thomas Allen Everett lying in the front yard, deceased from gunshot wounds. The adult shooter remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives during the initial investigation.
