In the early afternoon of Sunday, May 20, 2007, the life of 36-year-old Delonte Evans, an African-American man, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. Police were called to the 600 block of 32nd Street, SE, around 1:39 p.m. following reports of a shooting in the area.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Evans at the scene, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his head. A member of the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office pronounced him dead at the location.
At the time of his death, authorities reported that Evans had no fixed address.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Branch has been investigating the case, which is officially classified as a homicide. To date, public information has not been released regarding any arrests made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case of Delonte Evans's death remains an open and unsolved homicide.
