Larry Wayne Russell, a 42-year-old sergeant with the Athens Police Department in Athens, Alabama, tragically lost his life on Friday, January 2, 2004. Russell and his fellow officer, Anthony Mims, were responding to a 911 call made by a man who had a history of mental illness.
