On a grim Halloween night in 2005, in the quiet town of Athens, Alabama, 80-year-old Charles Newman, a male veteran, fell victim to a brutal home invasion that ended his life. The perpetrator, Andrew Lackey, was driven by a false belief that Newman, the estranged grandfather of a close friend, was a wealthy man with a hidden vault of gold and cash. For ten months, Lackey meticulously planned the robbery, a scheme that would ultimately lead to a tragic and violent confrontation.
