On February 8, 2007, 25-year-old Donald Allen Brookins was fatally shot during a midday gunfight at 2218 Avenue I in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. The incident was part of a series of homicides that year, contributing to the city's total of 94 homicides in 2007.
