On the evening of December 26, 2022, a wave of violence in Birmingham, Alabama, claimed the life of 18-year-old Kamarian Ja'Ky Morris, a Black male from Hueytown. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Carson Road. Morris was a passenger in a vehicle when shots were fired, striking him and a juvenile who was also in the car.
Following the shooting, both victims were transported by a private vehicle to UAB Hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Kamarian Morris was pronounced dead upon arrival. The juvenile passenger sustained gunshot injuries but survived the attack. At the time of his death, Morris was a senior at Midfield High School and was looking forward to his graduation with the class of 2023.
Preliminary investigations by the Birmingham Police Department began immediately following the shooting. However, as of late 2025, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests made in connection with the murder of Kamarian Morris, and no suspect or suspects have been officially named. The case remains an open investigation as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
