On May 22, 2009, 57-year-old Frank Wright was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred at 3556 43rd Avenue North, where Wright was found deceased alongside another individual who sustained injuries. Investigators determined that the shooting was related to a drug-related robbery. Subsequently, Dion Williams was arrested and charged with capital murder and attempted murder in connection with the case.
