On a Tuesday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of a 62-year-old male, Amin Poonawalla, was tragically cut short. On July 7, 2020, at approximately 9:48 p.m., officers from the Birmingham Police Department's West Precinct were called to the Ensley Food Mart located at 2500 Avenue E. The alert came from the Shot Spotter gunfire detection system, which had registered multiple rounds being fired in the area.
