Death by Force

On the evening of July 7, 2020, 62-year-old Amin Poonawalla, a resident of Hoover, Alabama, was fatally shot outside his business, the Ensley Food Mart, located on Avenue E in Birmingham. The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. as Poonawalla was reportedly locking up the store for the night. Responding officers found him unresponsive in the parking lot, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
