In the early morning hours of July 17, 2021, the life of 18-year-old Treven Jas Williams was tragically cut short in a parking lot of an apartment complex in east Birmingham, Alabama. An altercation preceded the fatal shooting, which occurred just after 2:30 a.m. in the 7600 block of 2nd Avenue North. Responding to the scene, authorities found Williams deceased.
A subsequent investigation by the Birmingham Police Department led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male suspect.
The suspect, who is white, was taken into custody the following Wednesday and was being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond. He was facing a pending charge of capital murder in connection with Williams' death.
Following his death, Williams' family described him as a 'great brother, an amazing big uncle, respectful nephew and a loving son' who 'touched the lives of many with his big heart.' They remembered him for being respectful and having a smile that could 'light up an entire room.' A GoFundMe page was organized to assist with funeral costs.
