Damian Falcon, a 39-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed on October 27, 2014, in Austin, Texas. Falcon was found in the driver's seat of a wrecked car with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The vehicle, a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis, had crashed into a home on Georgian Drive near Powell Lane in North Austin. Falcon was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The incident also involved a woman who was found at a nearby bus stop with a gunshot wound to her abdomen and another man who was found in the parking lot of a convenience store with a stab wound to the front of his neck. The man told police that Falcon had stabbed him.
Austin police charged Phillip Ford Terrell, a 31-year-old male, with murder in connection to Falcon's death. Several corroborating witness statements helped build the case against Terrell. On Halloween, a homicide detective reviewed the 911 calls made in connection to the shootings and heard one in which the caller said the shooter was someone known as "Cali," Terrell's alias. The caller described "Cali" when police located her. She said she witnessed Falcon stab another man and then point something at the Impala "Cali" was driving. The caller said she then saw "Cali" shooting a gun out the car's window as Falcon was pulling his car away from the gas pumps. Terrell was identified as a member of the Gangster Disciples gang, with multiple charges and convictions for felony assaults, armed robbery, and drug offenses.
The investigation into Falcon's death revealed a complex web of violence and crime. The woman found at the bus stop and the man with the stab wound were both connected to the incident, adding layers to the case. The arrest affidavit detailed the events leading up to the shooting, including the altercation between Falcon and the man he allegedly stabbed. The affidavit also highlighted Terrell's criminal history and gang affiliations, painting a picture of a dangerous individual with a propensity for violence.
Despite the charges against Terrell, he was not in custody as of the time of the report, with his bail set at $400,000. The case against Terrell was built on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, but the investigation continued as authorities sought to bring justice for Falcon's death. The tragic incident underscored the ongoing issues of gang violence and crime in the area, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
