On October 24, 2018, 29-year-old Douglas Donate White of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot while driving on Oporto-Madrid Boulevard near Sunrise Drive in the Eastwood neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Initial reports indicated an exchange of gunfire between a car and an SUV traveling southbound on Oporto-Madrid.
