Jamal Marcel Butler, an 18-year-old African American male from Opelika, Alabama, died on October 18, 2011, after a shooting that unfolded along the 500 block of W. E. Morton Avenue. Late that Tuesday afternoon, officers with the Opelika Police Department were sent to the area on a report of a gunshot victim.
