A 34-year-old man, Darrian Finley, of Opelika, Alabama, was fatally shot on the evening of Saturday, October 5, 2024. The incident occurred at a party in the Beauregard community of Lee County.
According to reports from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the shooting took place in the 3000 block of Lee Road 11. When deputies arrived, they discovered two adult males with gunshot wounds. Mr. Finley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The Lee County Coroner's Office confirmed Finley's identity and that his body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a postmortem examination. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the case.
In an effort to gather more information, Finley's family has offered a $3,000 reward for video footage or any details that could lead to an arrest. They have made a public plea for assistance from the Opelika, Auburn, and Lee County communities to help bring justice for their loved one.
